Accommodation in a traditional desert camp
Experience a memorable night in an Amazigh desert camp on this 2-day trip to the endless golden dunes near the scenic village of Merzouga.
Depart from Fez in the morning heading to Merzouga. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, famous for their cedar forests and Barbary apes. Pass by Ifrane, often referred to as Morocco’s Little Switzerland, and the town of Azrou. Continue across the Ziz Valley and through towns such as Midelt and Erfoud before reaching Merzouga via an off road track. At sunset, enjoy a camel ride to your desert camp, where a traditional Moroccan dinner awaits before spending the night in an Amazigh tent beneath the stars.
Wake up early to enjoy a stunning sunrise from the top of a dune. Afterwards, return to Merzouga for breakfast and a shower, depending on the camp arrangements breakfast may be served before the camel ride. Begin the journey back to Fez, stopping in Tafilalt and Rissani, and pause in the Azrou forests to see the wild monkeys. The tour ends in Fez late in the evening. Desert Camps There are two camp categories available: standard tents for up to 4 people with private bathrooms, and superior tents for up to 5 people, also with private bathrooms. The main differences are in the meals and decoration. In high season, standard camps may have shared bathroom facilities. A single supplement applies for solo travelers. Air conditioning in luxury camps is available for an additional 30 EUR per person. Private Tours If you would like to arrange a private 2 day desert tour, please get in touch.
