This 3-day tour to Merzouga from Fez gives you the chance to discover the authentic Moroccan Sahara Desert while immersing yourself in its rich culture.
Leave Fez at 8 am and head towards Merzouga. Travel across the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, often called Little Switzerland, and Azrou. Continue through the Ziz Valley and Erfoud before reaching your hotel in Merzouga for the night.
Discover the Eastern Sahara in a 4x4, exploring nomadic communities, palm groves, and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Stop in the village of Khamlia to experience traditional Gnawa music. At sunset, enjoy a camel ride to a Berber tent where you’ll spend the night.
Wake up early to admire the sunrise from the top of a dune before heading back to Merzouga for breakfast and a refreshing shower. On the journey back to Fez, you’ll pass through Tafilalt and Rissani, with a stop in the Azrou forests to see and feed the wild monkeys. Arrival in Fez is scheduled for late afternoon. Day Trip Transport Travel is by air conditioned Toyota Land Cruiser with an English speaking driver. Day Trip Accommodation This tour offers two accommodation options: standard category 2 to 3 stars and luxury category 4 stars. Standard category: Merzouga first night: Riad Mamouche or Dar Tafouyte. Merzouga second night: Amazigh desert camp. Luxury category: Merzouga first night: Riad Nezha, Merzouga Guest House, Dar el Janoub, Riad Madu or Riad Azawad. Merzouga second night: Luxury desert camp with private bathroom. Standard desert tents can host up to 4 people, while luxury tents can accommodate up to 5. The main differences lie in the meals and interior decor. During high season, bathrooms may be shared. Single rooms are not available. Solo travelers must pay a supplement. Triple and family rooms are available.
