Head into the immensity of the desert and enjoy a unique adventure visiting beautiful locations like Ouarzazate and the majestic Erg Chebbi with this 3-day trip from Merzouga to Fez.
Depart from Marrakech and travel toward Ouarzazate, a journey of approximately four hours through the Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n'Tichka at over 2,000 meters. Stop to visit the iconic Aït Benhaddou before continuing to Ouarzazate to explore the Taourirt Kasbah. From there, proceed along the Road of the Thousand Kasbahs toward the palm groves of Skoura, reaching the Roses Valley around sunset. The day concludes in the scenic Dades Valley, with accommodation possibly arranged in Skoura.
After breakfast, visit the Dades Gorges and the Todra Gorges, known for their panoramic views. Travel towards Merzouga via the Jorf Palm Grove, famous for dates, with a lunch break in Erfoud, known for fossil fragments. After visiting Erfoud, ride a camel or opt for a quad bike tour to the desert camp at Erg Chebbi for a Moroccan dinner under the stars.
Experience sunrise in the Merzouga Desert, followed by breakfast and a camel ride before beginning the journey to Fez via the Tafilalet region and the town of Rissani, the ancient capital of the Alaouite sultans. The route continues with a stop at the cedar forests near Azrou—home to Barbary macaques—and then through Ifrane before arriving in Fez at around 6 pm. Transport may be provided by taxi with an English, Spanish, or French-speaking driver whenever available.
