Visit a UNESCO-listed coastal city
Explore Portuguese & Moroccan heritage
Enjoy free time to wander or swim
At the scheduled time, we’ll collect you from your hotel in Marrakech and set off toward the Atlantic coast, heading to El Jadida, a former Portuguese settlement dating back to the 16th century. After a journey of around 3.5 hours, we’ll reach El Jadida, also known as Mazagan, often regarded as one of Morocco’s most charming coastal cities. Once there, you’ll have approximately 2 hours of free time to discover the city at your own pace. The visit begins at the Manueline Cistern, located within the historic fortress and designed by the Portuguese architect João Castilho. We’ll then continue through the fortified citadel, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where different cultural influences come together in both architecture and daily life. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views over the Atlantic while exploring the area. Along the way, you’ll see landmarks such as the Great Mosque, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Jewish mausoleum, the local market, and the Andalusian Palace, all highlighting traditional Moroccan design. You’ll also have the opportunity to walk along El Jadida’s beaches and, if you wish, take a refreshing swim. At the end of the visit, we’ll meet again to return to Marrakech, wrapping up this 9-hour day trip.
