Ingredients for the cooking class
We’ll meet at 287 Rue Oued El Makhazine, beside the taxi rank, and travel to the Haha Hills in the countryside of Essaouira, home to argan trees where you may even spot goats climbing the branches. We’ll stop at a local souk to select fresh ingredients for our recipes. Then, we’ll head to a traditional Amazigh kitchen equipped with authentic cooking utensils. Two local women will guide you through preparing Amazigh flatbread, from grinding barley to baking it. You’ll also cook couscous in a clay pot and discover the essential ingredients of Amazigh cuisine, including vegetable and goat meat tajine with olive oil and Moroccan spices. After cooking, you’ll enjoy the dishes you’ve prepared—outdoors if the weather allows—followed by freshly brewed herbal tea. Before returning to Essaouira, you’ll have the option to visit an argan oil cooperative and learn about the production process. The experience lasts approximately 7 hours and ends back at the original meeting point.
