We depart from Marrakech to the south, ascending through the impressive Tizi N' Tichka pass in the High Atlas, where we will make stops to enjoy the panoramic views. We will visit an argan cooperative to learn about the production of this valuable oil. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, we will have the option to explore the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, another imposing example of traditional construction in southern Morocco. After lunch, our journey will take us through the Valley of Roses and the palm grove of Skoura. We end the day in the Dades Valley, where we will stay, enjoying the serenity and beauty of the surroundings.
We will start the day with a comforting breakfast at our hotel in the picturesque Dades Valley, getting ready to continue our exclusive trek to the Merzouga desert. Today, our journey takes us through the famous Route of a Thousand Kasbahs, a path full of natural and architectural splendor that crosses the lush oasis of Tinghir. Following a less traveled path, parallel to the river, we will reach the majestic Todra Gorges. Here, we will have time to explore, admire the towering cliffs, and enjoy a relaxed lunch at a cozy local café, perfect for immersing ourselves in Moroccan culture. Afterwards, our adventure will take us to Rissani and then we will pass through Erfoud, a city known for its impressive fossils. We will then arrive in Rissani, famous for its vibrant date market and its historical relevance as a starting point for caravans crossing the Sahara to Timbuktu. After exploring the market, we will head towards the heart of the desert, Merzouga. Upon arrival at the borders of the Erg Chebbi dunes, we will leave our suitcases in our tents and be greeted with a refreshing welcome tea. We will embark on an exciting camel excursion to ascend the highest dune, just in time to capture the magnificent sunset. From this privileged height, we will not only enjoy panoramic views but we will also have the opportunity to practice sandboarding. It will be the perfect time to capture unique photographs of the sunset over the vast sea of sand. On the way back to the camp, an unforgettable night awaits us under a starry sky. We will enjoy a traditional dinner and close the day with drum music, offered by our nomadic hosts.
After a hearty breakfast, we will climb to 4×4 to begin our exploration around the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Among the many stops that await us, we will discover how and where the nomadic families of the area live, we will explore the oases in the middle of nowhere, we will admire spectacular landscapes and small desert villages, and we will visit palm groves. We will make an inevitable stop in the village of Khamlia, of people originally from Mali, who will delight us with a beautiful concert of Gnawa music while we savor a delicious tea. In addition, we will visit the mines of Mfis. On the way back to the hotel, we can rest or take advantage of the hotel swimming pool.
After watching the sunrise on the great dune, we return to the camp for breakfast and then start our journey back to Marrakech, entering the picturesque Berber villages. Our first stop will be in Alnif, where we will enjoy a refreshing tea and learn about local life. We continue to Tazarine to capture the beautiful views of its palm groves, and then to N'kob to admire its historic kasbah. After N'kob, we head to Ouarzazate for a short stop, before continuing our tour. We will cross the impressive High Atlas in the afternoon, enjoying spectacular landscapes, to finally arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where we will conclude our tour.
