Henna Workshop in Merzouga

We will meet at Hotel Kanz Erremal to begin this henna workshop—an intimate introduction to one of Morocco’s most meaningful artistic traditions, right in the heart of the Merzouga desert. We’ll start by exploring the cultural importance of henna in Morocco, where it is traditionally applied during weddings, religious festivities, and family celebrations. You’ll learn about common symbols used for protection, good fortune, and fertility, as well as their deeper meanings in Berber culture. Next, you’ll discover how natural henna paste is prepared and how traditional application techniques are carried out. Berber women will guide you step-by-step as you practice drawing popular motifs—such as flowers symbolizing joy and fertility. After the demonstration, you’ll create your own henna design on your hand or foot, leaving you with a beautiful and meaningful souvenir. We’ll also share tips on caring for your tattoo to help it last longer. After this 1-hour activity, we’ll finish at the entrance of your hotel. Workshop + Pickup When booking, you may select a package that includes pickup and drop-off at your hotel. If you choose this option, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Merzouga approximately 30 minutes before the workshop begins.
